Transit Alert – Fleet Week: Ride regular transit service to Hydros & other Seafair events; military personnel in uniform or w/ID ride free

Ride transit service to get to the Hydro venue and other Seafair Fleet Week
events.

Plan ahead and allow plenty of time for travel that may be affected by traffic,
road closures and limited parking capacity.

Fleet Week highlights
Military members in uniform or with ID ride free 7/29-8/4
Metro Transit, Sound Transit and the King County Water Taxi are proud to
participate in the Seafair tradition of honoring those who serve our country.

Active duty and retired members of the Armed Forces ride free on Metro and
Sound Transit buses, Link light rail, Sounder trains and the Vashon and West
Seattle Water Taxis during Fleet Week.

Service members not in uniform, please show military ID to the transit operator
upon boarding, or to fare inspectors when asked. Valid forms of military ID
include a Veteran Health ID Card, a Uniformed Identification Card or a DD-214.

All other transit riders are required to pay a valid regular fare.

I-90 bus service is not affected by Blue Angels practices & performances
Bus service will operate normal routing across the I-90 floating bridge during the
Blue Angles practices and performances this year. A new Blue Angels flight path
allows planes to fly over Seattle without bridge closures.

Transit service to other Fleet Week events
In addition to the Hydros and other Seafair events, US Navy, US Coast Guard
and Royal Canadian Navy ships are docked along the downtown waterfront.

Access the waterfront from buses traveling through Seattle north or south along
any of the numbered avenues at posted bus stops near Bell, Pike/Pine or
Madison/Marion streets, or streets in Pioneer Square.

Riding transit to weekend Hydro events
Text your stop ID to 62550 for the next scheduled or estimated departure times
of transit service at your stop.

Route 50
On Saturday and Sunday, August 3-4, Metro will add trips to Route 50, providing
service approximately every 15 minutes between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM for
passengers traveling to the hydro races.

Route 50, which otherwise normally operates every 30 minutes, serves Genesee
Park near the Stan Sayres Pit on Lake Washington, and connects with Link light
rail at SODO, Columbia City and Othello stations. 

Use the regularly published schedule, then expect more frequent service.

Other nearby bus service
Besides Route 50, other transit service that travels in the South Seattle area near
Genesee Park includes Metro Route 7, serving  Rainier Av S and S Genesee St,
and Link light rail at Columbia City Station.

Metro routes 4, 8, 14, 27, 36, 48 and 106 travel close enough to be walking or
biking options for some people attending the hydro events.  Each Metro bus can
carry three bikes on the outside rack.  Bikes are not allowed inside buses.

Check the map before you go for walking or biking pathways and distances.

Via to Transit
Via to Transit is on-demand service that connects riders to and from transit hubs
in the southeast Seattle area.  Riders who live, work, or go to school within the
specified service areas can download the app and request a ride from Via to
Transit to get to transit hubs at Mount Baker, Columbia City, Othello or Rainier
Beach Link stations. From there, riders can board Link light rail or bus routes that
serve the stations.
