Transit Alert – Seattle area weekend events are going to be enhanced by hot weather; transit riders, have fun & be safe

With so many people expected to attend Pride and other community events over the next two days, Metro wants to let everyone know that very warm weekend temperatures are also being forecast throughout Metro’s greater Seattle and King County service areas.

Transit riders are encouraged to plan ahead to ensure their own safety as well as that of those traveling with them during hot weather.

Because possible significant delays in transit service could also happen in several areas due to expected crowds and traffic around multiple events, it is especially important to have a good plan, and maybe an alternate plan.

Be aware of what kinds of events may be happening in the areas you are traveling to or through, and check to see if your bus or service has a planned reroute.  Temperatures in the downtown Seattle or other high density areas with lots of glass and concrete can be much warmer than in outlying areas.  Allow plenty of travel time and be patient.  Stay hydrated and do whatever else is needed to stay as cool and comfortable as you can.

Metro wants you to ride with us and to have a great time this weekend.

Thank you for riding and for using Metro’s services.  Please be safe.
