REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Course: #72502 Fee: $12
A healthy urban forest, which helps to filter air and water, control storm water, conserve energy, and provide animal habitat and shade, is key to the quality of life for the Kent community; currently, our Park Operations team is assessing our Urban Tree Canopy and managing individual public trees based on a tree inventory. |
|
 |
This information is being used to develop the Kent Parks Urban Forest Management Plan, which is being prepared as the next steps in the City’s effort to proactively plan for, and manage, these valuable assets.
We’re working to introduce an online tool that will allow users to scroll through current geospatial or GIS data, maps, photos, and the Kent Parks tree inventory. This tool will also include opportunities to engage residents who have an interest in getting involved in the urban forest community, and how they can help make an impact on the sustainability of trees in the City of Kent.
We want to provide this resource to educate Kent residents about the City’s plans, goals, and the importance of our urban forest. A story map will be used in combination with social media posts to facilitate opportunities for the community to learn and give feedback about the public and environmental health benefits of Kent’s trees.

This project was developed by the Davey Resource Group for the City of Kent. Funds for this project were provided by the USDA Forest Service Urban Forestry Program, administered through the State of Washington Department of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry Program. The USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer. |
