Fishing Report & Information
Spring Trout fishing is right around the corner!
It won’t be long until our local Westside lakes are planted for Spring fishing. While we have to wait just a little longer for some local fun, in the meantime, head to the Eastside to check out the early season opener lakes - they're open now!
Fishing can be really good at Caliche, Martha, Quincy, Burke, and Dusty Lakes. Be sure to check and make sure the lakes are free of ice before heading out. Keep those lines tight!

The Cabin Creek Sno-Park South Loop is a beautiful 2.4 mile trail perfect for entry-level Snowshoers. The trail departs from the popular Sno-Park, but heads in a direction that is much less busy with skiers than the North side trails, and you can see beautiful views of the upper Yakima River! Please note that a Sno-Park Permit is required for access. |
For weather, maps, directions road and trail conditions, check out the Central Cascades Winter Recreation Council online.
Hike of the Week - Evans Creek Preserve
The Evans Creek Preserve near Sammamish, WA is a great winter hike. The trail was created in 2010 and wanders through a diverse ecological area including wetlands, meadows, and forested hillsides. The trail surface is gravel and boardwalk, and is ADA accessible. Plus, Evans Creek Preserve is reachable by public transportation! |

Fish and seafood, like shrimp, scallops, and crab, are a very important part of a healthy diet. These foods are the major sources of healthful long-chain omega-3 fats and are also rich in other nutrients such as vitamin D, are high in protein, and low in saturated fat. There is strong evidence that eating oily fish like salmon is good for your heart. Take a dive and eat fish and seafood every week! |
STEM VEGETABLES
Stem vegetables, such as celery and asparagus, are good sources of fiber, potassium, folate, and antioxidants like vitamins A and C. Have you seen these nutritious foods growing in a garden? They grow straight up from the ground! Eat them raw or cooked for some yummy green goodness! |
