Fishing Report
November is a very under- appreciated month by Trout anglers. With all the salmon around, and hunting season in full swing, it’s easy to forget about Trout. The WDFW has created an amazing opportunity this November for trout anglers known as “Black Friday Trout Fishing,” an incentive to get outdoors and out of the stores by planting dozens of lowland lakes with big and beautiful Rainbow Trout. So bundle up, make a thermos of hot chocolate, and go hit the lakes! For a list of which lakes will be planted and when, visit the WDFW website.

Nature Walk & Hike of the Week
The “Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail” near Olympia, WA is an amazing destination for a Fall adventure.
In the month of November, 20,000 to 40,000 Chum salmon ascend the creek to spawn. This ½ mile interpretive trail makes for a great nature walk as you will find incredible viewing stations to see spawning salmon up close!
To turn this destination into a hike, continue up the road another three (3) miles and adventure to Kennedy Creek Falls. For details and directions to the trailhead, check out the Washington Trails Association!

It’s a great time to get out and discover Kent’s public art collection. The City Art Program brings artwork into public spaces, beautifying neighborhoods, parks, buildings, and streetscapes; creating a sense of place; and supporting economic development.
This week, we’re featuring a series of sculptures created by artist Mike Whiting at Arbor Heights 360. Three large freestanding sculptures reflect the activities taking place in the park, as well as the artist's minimal aesthetic that is influenced by video gaming technology. The "Spider" sculpture is a large, pixilated spider form located in the climbing area. "Handplant" is located near the skateboarding area, and is a pixilated version of a skateboarder doing a hand plant. "Flower" is a large flower form located near the seated planting area.
Visit Arbor Heights 360 at 11525 SE 240th Street and take a photo of yourself with “Handplant,” “Flower,” or “Spider.” Posting it to Social Media and tag it with #kentarts!

SILVER LININGS Online Exhibit
2020 has been quite a year! In this environment of bad news headlines, it can be challenging to find and focus on the positive, but that’s exactly what many of us are doing. It is impressive and inspiring to hear about the “silver linings” people are finding during these difficult times. We want to see the creative expression of YOUR silver linings. Is it more time with your family? Learning a new skill? Taking up a new hobby? Resetting your priorities? Show us your joy!
The exhibit is open to any creative endeavor – photographs, paintings, poems, recipes, short films, songs, or stories – anything you can dream up. Submit your projects as part of the online 2020 – SILVER LININGS exhibit at KentCreates.com by December 31. The top 5 winners will receive a $200 honorarium, and their work will appear in the featured carousel on the Kent Creates homepage!
