April is National Distracted Driving Month Distracted Driving Awareness Month is observed every April in the United States. It is a nationwide effort led by the National Safety Council (NSC) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to educate drivers on the deadly risks of inattentive driving and to eliminate preventable deaths on the road. In Kenmore, we encourage our community to stay safe on the road by eliminating distractions while driving, giving cyclists at least three feet of space, and remaining stopped for pedestrians in your half of the roadway plus the next lane. With the welcome of spring and better weather, more bicycles and pedestrians will be sharing the roads with vehicles. For more safety tips, visit our Target Zero Initiative webpage and be sure to pick up a free high visibility safety vest at Kenmore City Hall during regular business hours. |
