Learn More About Stream Buffer Updates in Kenmore
The City of Kenmore is updating its stream buffer regulations to comply with state law. Stream buffers are areas on either side of a stream that help protect water quality, support wildlife habitat, and maintain overall ecosystem health. On March 16, the City Council will consider three options for meeting state requirements. Depending on the option selected, stream buffers in Kenmore could increase to between 50 and 231 feet.

Community members are encouraged to learn more by visiting kenmorewa.gov/streams, where you can view a short video, explore a StoryMap showing affected parcels, and review background information about the proposed changes and state requirements. Submit feedback by emailing Principal Planner Todd Hall (thall@kenmorewa.gov) prior to the March 16 City Council meeting or by providing public comment that evening.

City of Kenmore Offers Free YMCA Swim Class Vouchers
The City of Kenmore is offering free swim class vouchers to help ensure all residents have access to swim lessons and water safety instruction. Vouchers can be used for YMCA group swim classes focused on skills development, water safety, and fun, engaging learning experiences. To learn more and see if you qualify, visit kenmorewa.gov/swim.

61st Avenue NE Sidewalk Replacement Project Update
After a winter pause, construction on the 61st Avenue NE Sidewalk Replacement Project will resume March 13, with completion expected later this spring. As warmer weather arrives, crews will focus on final paving and striping to finish the project. The work remains on schedule and within budget and will deliver continuous sidewalks on both sides of the roadway, new curbs, gutters, improved drainage systems, and nearly 50 new trees planted along the corridor.

City Council Proclaims March as Women’s History Month
This week, the City Council proclaimed March 2026 as Women’s History Month in Kenmore. Marella Alejandrino, President of the Kenmore Heritage Society, accepted the proclamation. The City makes this proclamation to celebrate all women and as an affirmation of the City’s commitment to honor the contributions of all women in the past, and to support the women who contribute to our future.  As Alejandrino said during the proclamation acceptance, "history is really about people, their stories, their resilience, and the way they come together to build something lasting. Kenmore is that kind of place."
