The Kenmore Top 4: August 26, 2022

School starts next week for many Kenmore students! School zones in Kenmore are active for over an hour before the starting bell and after release so that we can provide a safer environment for students walking to and from school. Drivers should watch for additional pedestrians and cyclists on the road and slow down in school zones. Will you be walking, rolling, or biking to school? Stop by City Hall on Fridays and pick up free high visibility safety vests for you and your family. 

Summer fun isn't over yet! Tomorrow, August 27, is Play Day at Rhododendron Park from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. All are welcome to join this family-friendly community event to celebrate getting outdoors and being active together. The event, hosted by Step It Up Camp, will feature Nike basketball skills & drills, a Bothell Cougars football team obstacle course, Airrosti injury training activities, and yard games. Find event details here and join the fun.

Beginning September 1, riders 18 and younger can ride for free on transit systems across Washington, including King County Metro buses, water taxis, Access paratransit and on-demand services, Sound Transit buses and Link light rail, Seattle Streetcar, and more as part of the Free Youth Transit Pass. With the launch of the program, young riders can use current youth and student ORCA cards, show their student identification, or simply board and ride free. By adopting a year-round free youth fare policy, King County Metro and other agencies across the state are providing young people access to the region’s innovative, integrated network of public transportation, expanding opportunity, and providing more equitable access. Next Wednesday is the last Kenmore Farmers Market of the season and we hope you can come pick up a final batch of local produce, baked goods, prepared foods, and fresh flowers between 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. Stop by the City of Kenmore booth to take a short survey and share your feedback about the market. This will help us as we wrap up the pilot year and determine the future of the Kenmore Farmers Market. The City is so thankful to the vendors, volunteers, community shoppers, and neighboring businesses who all worked together to make the first market season a success!
