Join us next Thursday, August 11, for the Grand Opening Celebration of the new West Sammamish River Bridge! The event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6 p.m., then live entertainment, activities, free food for the first 1,000 attendees and fun giveaways for the first 1,500 attendees. The evening caps off with a dazzling fireworks display (with additional viewing at Log Boom Park) at 9:30 p.m. Shuttle services are available to and from the event. But wait, there's more to celebrate next week! On Tuesday, August 9 at 6 p.m. the community is invited to the Log Boom Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the completion of park renovations including a new sandy beach, picnic shelter, boat rental building, environmental enhancements and more. Join us for speakers, including Artist Jennifer Dixon, and relish in the beauty and amenities of this greatly improved park. Frustrated by new traffic safety features on Juanita Drive and 68^th Avenue? There’s a rhyme and reason to it all. With the voter-approved Walkways & Waterways projects finishing up this year, you've probably noticed some new traffic safety features on 68^th Avenue and Juanita Drive, such as curb extensions at intersections, narrow lane widths, and special medians at bus stops. These new features are part of an intentional effort to slow down cars, get drivers to pay attention, increase safety for walkers and cyclists, and advance the City Council’s Target Zero goal of zero bicycle or pedestrian fatalities by 2025. Read more here to find out what City Manager Rob Karlinsey has to say about it.

There are only two weeks left in the free summer lunch program, open to all youth ages 5 - 18. Thanks to the YMCA's Free Youth Summer Meal program, kids can enjoy a free lunch and engaging activity at Kenmore City Hall on August 10 and August 17 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
