The Kenmore Top 4: July 29, 2022

This week, the Kenmore City Council discussed Missing Middle housing and significant changes to the Planning Commission's recommendations, including expanding the consideration of Missing Middle housing (duplexes and triplexes) to Kenmore's entire R6 geographic zone instead of just 1/4 of a mile from the City’s two main bus transit routes. A public hearing will be held later this year for the community to weigh in on the proposed Comprehensive Plan and code amendments. The comprehensive plan amendments also provide policy direction for future Missing Middle housing code amendments including different housing types such as cottage housing.

Next week, crews will begin begin applying paint lines on the newly paved 68th Ave NE – NE 202nd St roadways as part of the Walkways and Waterways 68th Ave NE Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements project. Vehicle access to/from 68th Ave NE – NE 202nd St will be temporarily restricted during paint line work to avoid vehicles tracking fresh paint. Flaggers will be present within the work zones to direct local access only traffic. Please avoid the area and use an alternative travel route or the detour along 73rd Ave NE.

The fun continues in Kenmore's Town Square next week with National Night Out (hosted by the Kenmore Police Department) taking place during the Farmers Market on Wednesday, August 3 from 3pm - 7pm. Then join us the following day (August 4) at 3pm for a Kids Concert featuring Nancy Stewart. Temperatures are expected to cool down next week and we look forward to continuing our summer celebrations with the community!
