The Kenmore Top 4: July 22, 2022

On Monday, the Kenmore City Council reviewed a draft Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) Policy. The policy was developed through recommendations from the community led DEI Task Force and information gathered from community and city staff surveys, and establishes a citywide strategic initiative to promote DEIA in the City of Kenmore’s community culture, programs, and services. The City Council also approved an additional $60,000 to support the continued work of the Task Force and the development of a plan to implement the policy. 

988 is the new, nationwide, three-digit dialing code for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The 988 dialing code connects people via call, text, or chat, to the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) where compassionate, accessible care and support are available for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress. 988 is the newest addition to the state’s network of crisis center providers and will not replace any crisis call centers in Washington. The current NSPL number, 1-800-273-TALK (8255), will remain active along with the new 988 dialing code.

On Tuesday, Mayor Nigel Herbig and City Manager Rob Karlinsey delivered the State of the City Address to Kenmore residents and business people at City Hall. The event was hosted in partnership with the Bothell Kenmore Chamber of Commerce.

Stay cool, Kenmore! The weather is heating up next week with estimated temperatures in the low 90's. Need a place to cool off? The Kenmore Hangar (Mon - Sat, 6am - 8pm and Sun, 7am - 6pm) and Kenmore City Hall (Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm) will be open with air conditioning for any community members. King County Emergency Management has also compiled a list of regional cooling centers and provides safety tips for hot weather.
