Correction: The dollar range of grants in the original press release (sent on March 4, 2022) for Urgent Small Business Assistance incorrectly stated that they were expected to be between $5,000 and $10,000 each. The correct range approved by Kenmore City Council was $10,000-$15,000. We apologize for this error, which has been corrected below and on the website.

Kenmore, WA - On February 14, 2022, the Kenmore City Council approved $75,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for Urgent Small Business Assistance. These grants, expected to range from $10,000 to $15,000 each, are specifically for small businesses that own, rent, or lease commercial space in the City of Kenmore and need urgent assistance to avoid closure. The one-time grants will provide pandemic-recovery funds to solve a short-term problem. Small businesses who match these criteria are encouraged to apply, and grant applications will be accepted until 5:00pm on Friday, March 18, 2022.
“Many small businesses in Kenmore have struggled throughout the pandemic. The Kenmore City Council supports using these funds to help businesses facing imminent closure,” said Kenmore Mayor Nigel Herbig.
Over the last two-and-a-half-months, the City collected feedback from the community about how to spend a portion of the City’s ARPA resources. This online survey closed earlier this week. While the City will be analyzing those results over the next several weeks, the City Council voted to proceed with this urgent small business assistance on a faster timeline to help businesses avoid closure.
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) is a $1.9 trillion federal law passed in March 2021 to help the U.S. respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Kenmore will receive a total of $6.4 million in ARPA funds.
