Kenmore, WA - The City of Kenmore is seeking input from residents and other interested parties on how the City should spend a portion of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Using an online community engagement tool called Balancing Act Prioritize, participants are given a menu of 16 possible ARPA project ideas and are asked to select and rank their top choices while staying within an allotted budget. Input from this survey will help gauge community priorities before Kenmore City Council makes decisions about allocation of the funds later this year.
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) is a $1.9 trillion federal law passed in March 2021 to help the U.S. respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Kenmore is receiving a total of $6.4 million in ARPA funds. City Council has already allocated some of its ARPA funds for direct cash assistance to low-income Kenmore residents, affordable housing, and staffing for the program.
“Every community member is invited to weigh in as we consider how to spend these once-in-a-lifetime funds,” said Stephanie Lucash, Kenmore Assistant City Manager/ARPA Administrator. “It is critically important the City hear from a wide array of voices before the City Council makes final decisions about these funds. We want to make sure we maximize this opportunity to provide the greatest benefit to our community.”
The tool will remain open to community input until later in February. When this engagement period closes, the results will be analyzed and presented to City Council.
