Porch Lights Go Purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Kenmore City Council proclaimed October 2021 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the City of Kenmore and in recognition, purple lights will shine on the dogwood trees in front of Kenmore City Hall this month. Each year neighbors show their support by replacing their porch lights with purple lights. If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1.800.799.SAFE (7233). The City of Kenmore is giving away a limited supply of purple lights. Stop by City Hall between 9am - 12pm or 1pm - 4pm Monday through Friday to pick one up.

Beginning October 25, Confirming Vaccination is Required for Many Activities in King County

Beginning October 25, people ages 12 and older will be required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result to enter certain indoor and outdoor events and establishments in King County. An analysis by the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) conducted for King County found that the vaccine verification policy at restaurants, bars, and gyms/fitness centers alone could prevent between 17,900 and 75,900 infections, 421 and 1,760 hospitalizations and 63 and 257 deaths locally over the six months of the order. Vaccination, combined with wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands frequently, and improving ventilation and filtration, are essential steps to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission and enhance general health and well-being. Learn more including FAQs about the vaccine verification order. Find COVID-19 vaccination locations: kingcounty.gov/vaccine.
