Did you know? Kenmore has over 1,100 registered businesses! Shop local and support one of them today. Thanks to a Port of Seattle grant, this summer the City of Kenmore will be promoting a “Back Our Businesses” campaign to remind consumers to shop locally and patronize all Kenmore businesses. Throughout July and August, we will be highlighting local businesses and encouraging the community to shop local and Back Our Businesses. We look forward to celebrating our local Kenmore businesses this summer!

With this year’s Municipal Excellence Awards, the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) honored five cities putting creative ideas to use for their communities, including the City of Kenmore for its Financial Sustainability Plan.
This is Kenmore's sixth AWC Municipal Excellence Award since 2013, which is open each year to any Washington city or town and recognizes innovative city projects that significantly improve the quality of life for their communities. Mayor David Baker (pictured above) accepted the award at a virtual awards ceremony held last month.

Now through the end of August, the construction team is permitted to work around the clock to complete critical work on the project. The majority of work during this time will be done in-water, which is limited to a short period each year known as the “fish window,” identified as the time of year least likely to negatively impact fish habitat.
This is a very busy time for the project and ensuring the safety of workers and the public remains a top priority. When transiting through the project’s work zones, both over the bridge and in the water, please remember to slow down.
- When traveling over the bridge the 25 MPH speed limit will be strictly enforced.
- Use caution when traveling under the bridge, as divers may be in place.
- For safety, the Coast Guard has permitted the contractor to close waterway access. Generally, closures will be for up to 30 minutes at a time during the day and up to 10 hours at night.
- Parking at the Kenmore boat launch is available but limited. Stopping or waiting for available parking is not allowed (this is being enforced), as it will cause traffic backups to extend onto 68th Ave NE. Additional parking is available in the right-of-way on NE 175th St, west of 68th Ave NE.
- When using the pedestrian path while cycling, please dismount and walk your bike across.
Reminder: To prevent traffic backups on 68th Ave NE, stopping, standing or waiting for parking at the boat launch is not permitted.
