Kenmore Residents: Take the Sound Transit Realignment Survey by April 30!

Sound Transit is considering “realignment,” i.e., delays and/or cuts in some components of the Sound Transit 3 system expansion, including the SR 522/NE 145^th Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project which connects Bothell, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, and Shoreline to the new Shoreline South/148th Street light rail station. The realignment comes after projected revenue shortfalls from the pandemic as well as higher than anticipated project costs.

Before Sound Transit considers modifying future transit projects, they want to hear from you! Please take this survey and share your input by April 30. The City is asking Kenmore residents to remind Sound Transit of all the reasons why Kenmore’s Bus Rapid Transit must stay on schedule and stay funded. 

The SR 522/NE 145th Bus Rapid Transit project:

1. Is cost effective. Some communities, like Kenmore, have already built the road, bus lane and sidewalk infrastructure on SR522 to support the project and Sound Transit can take advantage of assets that are already available.
2. Provides a critical connection from the east to the west. With the light rail coming to Shoreline in 2024, The SR 522/NE 145th BRT project will provide a low cost and efficient way to move people quickly without the need for additional light rail station parking. New bus lanes and transit priority improvements will help riders avoid traffic and travel faster and more comfortably.
3. Is an early win for the Sound Transit 3 system expansion. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2025, is within budget, and the public is supportive.
