ST3 “Realignment” – We will need your help! Because of projected revenue shortfalls from the pandemic as well as higher project costs, later this spring the Sound Transit Board will likely be considering “realignment,” i.e., cuts and/or delays in some of the projects approved in the Sound Transit 3 System Expansion Plan that was approved by voters in 2016.
We need your help! The Sound Transit Board will be discussing reduction options as soon as this April and may make final decisions sometime this summer. We need to remind the Board all of the reasons why our Bus Rapid Transit must stay on schedule and stay funded. More to come on this in late March/early April, but we want to get our residents and neighboring cities alerted to this now.
Learn about the BRT program and how it will affect Kenmore Sound Transit’s upcoming Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) program is much different than regular bus service and resembles train service (level boarding, pre-ticketing, etc.). BRT will provide fast, frequent and reliable high-capacity transit service.
The BRT project planned on Bothell Way through Bothell, Kenmore, and Lake Forest Park will get riders to light rail at the new Shoreline station (anticipated to be completed in late 2024) and will also connect riders to future BRT planned on I-405. New bus lanes and transit priority improvements will help riders avoid traffic and travel faster.
