City Earns Another Clean Audit
Kenmore, WA – The City of Kenmore is pleased to announce that for the 17th year in a row, the City has just received a clean audit opinion from the Washington State Auditor’s Office. The Financial Statement and Federal Single Audit covered the City’s 2017 Financial Statements and Federal grant awards and there were no findings or management issues noted. A finding is a deficiency, material weakness, or misstatement, discovered during an audit, which the auditor is required to report.
Accountability Audit procedures were also performed to determine whether the City complied with applicable laws and regulations and our own policies and procedures.
"It is our duty to the community to be financially responsible and transparent in all City operations. This positive, clean report from an independent annual audit is the result of the integrity, commitment and experience of our city staff and Finance Director, Ms. Joanne Gregory,” states Mayor David Baker. “In addition to the day-to-day accounting, we have successfully garnered federal grant funds for several large construction projects. Staff does an excellent job of managing and documenting these projects.”
The Washington State Auditor's Office independently serves the citizens of Washington by promoting accountability, fiscal integrity, and openness in state and local government. Working with these governments and with citizens, the office strives to ensure the efficient and effective use of public resources.
The City of Kenmore also holds the highest rating from S&P Global Ratings, AAA, on its 2016 bonds.
