Wanted: Your Ideas for Kenmore's Economic Development Strategy

A lot has changed since the City of Kenmore's first Economic Development Strategy was adopted in 2009 and it is now time to update the Strategy with a new work program to help grow our economy. Kenmore residents have a new way of receiving emergency notifications from the City of Kenmore: Alert Northshore. 

Alert Northshore allows City officials to text, email or phone all or targeted areas in Kenmore in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action, such as an evacuation, contaminated water, hazardous chemical spill, road closures, etc. This service is available to those who live or own property within the boundaries of the City of Kenmore or the City of Lake Forest Park.

Kenmore Business Alliance Meets First Thursday of Each Month

Come network and get to know your local businesses at the Kenmore Business Alliance meeting on the first Thursday of each month, from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Kenmore City Hall.

Recognizing its growing number of Kenmore members, the Greater Bothell Chamber will soon be known as the Bothell-Kenmore Chamber of Commerce.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming Business Open House on Thursday, April 5 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Kenmore City Hall.

Hispanic Arte & Culture Exhibit Opens March 2 at Kenmore City Hall

The Arts of Kenmore invites the public to the opening reception of the Hispanic Arte & Culture Exhibit on Friday, March 2, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Avenue NE. A presentation accompanied by artist awards will begin at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The exhibit will be open to the public during City Hall business hours weekdays 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through Thursday, May 24.

The Arts of Kenmore is collaborating with 4Culture, BizDiversity, El Siete Dias, and the City of Kenmore to host a series of events celebrating culture in April and May

Heron viewing location

Annual Heron Viewing March 2

Join the Annual Heron Viewing on Friday, March 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the north end of the Kenmore Park and Ride, 7346 NE Bothell Way. At noon, there will be a presentation about herons at the Northshore Fire Department, located across the street from the heron viewing spot.

Coffee with Council March 5 & 17

The Kenmore City Council invites community members to Coffee with Council on Monday, March 5, at 7:30 a.m. and Saturday, March 17 at 8:00 a.m. at Diva Espresso located in the Hangar, 6728 NE 181st Street. These sessions provide an informal opportunity to get to know your Councilmembers. 



Daylight savings

Target Zero Outreach at Kenmore Park & Ride March 13 

Daylight Savings Time (Spring Forward) begins March 12. For some, this may cause changes in sleep patterns which can lead to accidents on the road. Stop by the City's Target Zero on Monday, March 13, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at the Kenmore Park & Ride for safety gear and breakfast items. 

Enforcement, Education, and Engineering efforts make up the City's Target Zero program which works to reduce the number of pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities and serious injuries to zero by 2025. For more information, visit www.kenmorewa.gov/TargetZero.

 

Free state parks

Free Day to Visit Washington State Parks March 19

To celebrate Washington State Parks' 105th birthday, day-use visitors will not need a Discover Pass to visit state parks on Monday, March 19. Free days apply only to day-use access by vehicle, not overnight stays or rented facilities.

In Kenmore, this means you can discover Saint Edward State Park for free, or visit the neighboring Bridle Trails and Lake Sammamish State Parks.

Walkways & Waterways Parks Projects Open House March 22

Join the Walkways and Waterways Open House on Thursday, March 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Kenmore City Hall. View preliminary design work for the Log Boom Park Waterfront Access and Viewing and Squire's Landing Park Waterfront & Natural Open Space Access Projects. There will be a presentation at 7:00 p.m.

NUD Gardening

Northshore Utility District to Host Savvy Gardener Classes March 27, April 5 and 24

Northshore Utility District and the Saving Water Partnership are offering free gardening classes to help you create beautiful, healthy gardens and landscapes with less water and chemicals. Classes are taught by local master gardeners and landscape professionals, with practical advice you can put to work right away. Classes will take place on March 27, April 5 and 24 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Northshore Utility District, 6830 NE 185th St.

Exhibit in the Hangar at Town Square Featuring Northshore Students' Photography

The City is displaying a "Northshore Exclusive" exhibit in the Hangar, 6728 NE 181st Street, featuring work from the 2017 Washington State High School Photography Competition. After being on display at the Tacoma Art Museum and the Seattle Art Museum, Kenmore is proud to present the winning photography of Inglemoor, Bothell, and Woodinville High School students now through April 1. Kenmore Camera is a co-sponsor of this annual competition.
