New Distracted-Driving Law Goes in Effect July 23
Beginning July 23, 2017, it will be against the law for Washington drivers to use hand-held cell phones while they are driving. This includes all electronic devices, even tablets, laptops and video games. Tickets for driving while using hand-held electronics will go on your record and be reported to your insurance provider.
'Pianos in
the Parks' is in Kenmore! Now through July 30, come play, listen,
learn, and admire others playing the piano that Kenmore resident and artist
Emma Russell painted at Kenmore's Town Square.
Come enjoy another performance by local artist Scarlet Parke on Wednesday, July 26 from 7:30
p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Town Square prior to the The Lego Batman Movie showing as part of Kenmore's 'Movies @ the Square' movie series.
Kenmore Celebrates NE 181st Street Improvements
Kenmore is on the road to being more walk- and
bike-friendly! Today, Kenmore celebrated the completion of the new sidewalk improvements along
NE 181st Street between 68th and 73rd Avenues NE in downtown Kenmore with
a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Improvements include
sidewalks on both sides of the street, the addition of street lighting, a
Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon, and more. Attendees gathered near the new
pedestrian crosswalk and heard remarks from Deputy Mayor Allan VanNess, Representative Javier Valdez and project contributors.
Road Closure Alert - 192nd Street Culvert Replacement Project
A full road closure of NE 192nd Street is required to complete installation of the new concrete box culvert. The road closure will occur at the construction location (a couple hundred feet west of 80th Avenue NE). All users of NE 192nd St,including pedestrians and bicyclists, will need to use a detour route during the closure. Local access to residential streets and homes on NE 192nd Street will be maintained, but no through traffic will be permitted.
The road closure is scheduled for July 24 through August 4 (two-weeks) and will be in effect 24 hours a day.
Join
us for lunch! The Northshore YMCA is providing FREE summer lunches for children
18 and under weekdays, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., now through August 30 at
Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Avenue NE. All children are welcomed to come
enjoy lunch, engage in activities and meet new friends.
Help 'Feed the Need' by donating food, money or purchase a premade bag at Kenmore
Grocery Outlet during the month of July. All proceeds go to support the food
bank of Cedar Park Northshore Church in Kenmore. Let’s help surpass last year’s
collection of $3,500 in food and cash donations.
If you would like to donate food items or toys
throughout the year, the Cedar Park Northshore Church is open to donations
Sundays, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and during regular business hours.
'Backpacks for Kids' Now Through August 10
Help
fill backpacks with school supplies for students experiencing need in our
community. Now in its 18th year, the 'Backpacks for Kids' Program hosted by
the Northshore Schools Foundation has helped thousands of students be
prepared to start the year. You can drop off supplies at one of dozens of
collection sites across the Northshore region, including Kenmore City Hall. Or,
bring your donations to Kenmore’s Movies @ the Square on August 9.
Between July 28 - 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County is hosting a hazardous waste pickup service at the Seattle Times Building, 19200 120th Ave. NE, Bothell. You may drop off items such as antifreeze, batteries, gasoline, fluorescent lights, pesticides, etc. Visit the website for a complete list, www.hazwastehelp.org/HHW/wastemobile.aspx

Ashleigh Flynn & the Riveters Come to Kenmore July 20
Put your dancing shoes on and celebrate the 15th annual Kenmore Summer Concert Series. These free community events run for six consecutive Thursdays starting July 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Saint Edward State Park, 14445 Juanita Drive NE.
On July 20, join us for modern country roots artist Ashleigh Flynn who grew up in Kentucky and was influenced by local bluegrass music.
Parking for the concert is FREE. A Washington State Parks Discover Pass
will not be required to park in the designated concert parking area starting at
4:30 p.m.
Concert-goers
are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic dinners to share a
special summer night under the open sky. Food vendors will also be on-site
throughout the series. Alcohol is not permitted. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are
welcome to join the festivities.

Discover Arts, Food and More at the Kenmore Community Market Thursdays
Now through August
Cedar
Park Northshore Church is hosting a weekly community market that services
neighbors in Kenmore and surrounding communities with goodies from local
farmers, crafters, food trucks, and artisans now through August 31. The market takes place at the
church parking lot, 18737 68th Avenue NE, Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. -
8:00 p.m. There is ample parking on-site.
The Western
Washington All British Field Meet is a gathering of over 450 examples of the
art of British vehicle manufacture from the early 1900s to present. Featuring
live music, food and ice cream treats, representatives of over 25 local and
regional car clubs welcome all folks interested in these fine vehicles to join
us at St. Edward State Park on July 22 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Spectator parking is $10 per car, so
bring your friends!
Movies @ the Square is Kenmore's new popular summer movie series
that features family-friendly favorites shown on a large inflatable screen
outdoors at the new Town Square, 6728 NE 181st Street. Food trucks and
preshow entertainment featuring a piano artist will begin at 7:30 p.m. and movies will begin at dusk.
Bring a blanket or low-back chair and cozy up under the stars for this summer’s
biggest hits. Alcohol is not permitted.

the Skate Like A Girl Skate Camp at Jack V.
Crawford Skate Court on August 21 - 25 or August 28 -
September 1. This coed camp is geared toward children ages 5-12 at all level of
abilities from completely new to skateboarding to advanced.

has started their 2017 lineup of summer sports camps at Rhododendron Park!
Skyhawks offers a broad range of sports programming and camp formats for ages 4
to 14, so you are sure to find something that meets your family’s needs.
