April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month
At their March 28 meeting, the Kenmore City Council
proclaimed April 2016 as National Volunteer Appreciation Month. President
Barack Obama has also designated the month of April as the time to recognize
the hard work, dedication and passion of volunteers throughout the nation. We
definitely want to send a huge thank you to all of our volunteers. In 2015, Kenmore’s
volunteers worked a record breaking 2,800 hours toward executing City organized
special events, park projects, street clean ups, office and maintenance tasks,
and more.
“From the bottom of our hearts, the City of Kenmore
sincerely thanks the volunteers for everything they have done to make Kenmore a
better place to live, work and play,” expressed Mayor David Baker.

CITY NEWS
522 Transit NOW! Coalition and Cities Seek Your Support On Thursday, March 24, the Sound Transit Board proposed a Sound Transit 3 (ST3) draft plan for public review and feedback. Included in the draft plan are projects to provide Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service on SR 522 from Bothell, through Kenmore and up NE 145th Street to the future light rail station at NE 145th and I-5; additional 300 stall parking structures along SR 522 – one in Bothell, one in Kenmore, and one in Lake Forest Park – to provide access to BRT; and light rail study for future SR 522 light rail.
Here’s what you can doto help ensure these projects are retained in the final plan:
1. Fill out the ST3 survey! The more people from our 522 cities who complete the survey, the better! Here is the link: http://soundtransit3.org/survey.
Be sure to support our three projects:
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on SR 522 and NE 145th St.
Additional parking structures along SR 522 to provide access to BRT
Light Rail Study for future SR 522 light rail
2. Send a short email to the Sound Transit Board at: soundtransit3@soundtransit.org. Let
the Sound Transit Board know that these projects are vitally important and
should be retained in the final project list to be approved by the ST Board in
June and submitted to voters in November. Be sure to include where you live
(i.e., Kenmore, Bothell, Lake Forest Park, etc.) Remember, the email can be
short – just expressing your support of our 3 projects is enough.
The deadline for input is April 29. Thank you for lending your voice of support. For information about the 522 Transit Now! Coalition, visit www.522TransitNow.org.

The
Pavilion Building Takes Shapes The Town Green project is making great progress. The roof of the pavilion
building has been installed! The roof is composed of multiple panels of foam material sandwiched
between two pieces of wood board. They are then fit into place and attached to
the building. Once complete, a metal roof will be placed over the
boards. To stay updated,

Juanita Drive and NE 155th Place Barrier Replacement Project To enhance the safety along the curve on the west side of
Juanita Drive at NE 155th Place, crews have removed curb and
replaced with a new full-height barrier. The new barrier location balances the
protection of uphill cyclists and pedestrians with space for longer and
trailered vehicles to navigate this tight turn on Juanita Drive. Images below
show the transformation.
