New Resources for Pregnancy, Infancy, and Early Childhood providers

Health Care Authority (HCA) is committed to health initiatives that focus on early life to achieve a strong start for children and build healthier communities for Washington. Check out two new initiative resources focused on pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood.

Pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood budget and legislation proposals

Annually, State agencies submit Decision Packages and Request Legislation to be considered for inclusion in the Governor’s Budget. HCA has compiled a list of the agency’s budget proposals focused on early life for both children and caregivers.  Find the Pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood budget and legislative proposals resource and other legislative resources on HCA’s Legislative relations webpage.

Mental Health Assessment for Young Children (MHAYC) Multi-Disciplinary Referral Guide

Recognizing the diverse array of professionals who work with and support young children and their families, HCA has published the MHAYC Multi-Disciplinary Referral Guide to support providers in navigating the complex early childhood system. This guide provides examples of potential multidisciplinary partners, though it is not a comprehensive list.

A thorough mental health assessment includes gathering information about child functioning across settings and caregivers which often requires partnership from other professionals and disciplines. Further, an assessment may identify needs beyond mental health treatment necessitating referral to other services.
