Issue with dependent special open enrollments

In the past few months, employees used SEBB My Account (SMA) to enroll their dependents in SEBB health coverage due to a life event that created a special open enrollment (SOE). However, due to a system issue, coverage elections were not saved for dependents when the subscriber submitted their event, resulting in their dependents not being enrolled in coverage. The system issue has now been fixed and SOE events that are still within the SOE 60-day window can be processed by the Benefit Administrators in the regular manner. For those accounts outside of the 60-day window, we will provide further guidance in the coming days, but we wanted to allow you to take action on those that you can.

What we need from you

If your organization is affected by this issue, you will have a file in the SMA data depot that lists your organization’s affected employees. The file name is SOE Impacted Subscribers 1.28.22 600 Axx. Please work with your affected employees (if any) to process their SOE event (you many need to reach out to them to confirm their intent). The list in the data depot is sorted so the oldest submitted SOEs appear first in the list and it is important you work in that order to ensure the SOE is processed within 60 days of the event.

If you have questions, send a secure email to SEBB Outreach and Training.
