HCA updates regarding mental health assessments for young children

During the 2021 legislative session 2SHB1325 was signed into law. The bill aligns Apple Health requirements with the best clinical practices for doing mental health assessments on children ages birth through age five. The Health Care Authority (HCA) invites you to keep reading in order to learn how to stay informed and get involved in the implementation process.

HCA’s mental health assessment for infants and young children advocacy webpage has launched. Families, Apple Health mental health providers, and community stakeholders can learn about HCA’s progress in implementing 2HB1325 as well sign up for prenatal-age 25 behavioral health notifications.

Free DC: 0 – 5™ training

HCA will provide training on DC: 0 – 5™ mental health assessments. The training is free to all Apple Health mental health clinicians and allied professionals. HCA is in the process of collaborating with external partners to provide trainings with a goal of launching in January 2022.
