We also have a new page that provides information about the HCCTB’s advisory committee members. These advisory committees play a critical role in helping reduce the state’s health care cost growth by providing expert advice to the HCCTB. What’s the HCCTB?

In 2020, Governor Inslee signed the board into law (House Bill 2457) with the purpose of reducing health care cost growth and increasing price transparency. Each year, Washington residents are paying more and more for their health care. In addition, rising health care prices affect how health care plans pay health care providers.

The HCCTB is responsible for reducing the state’s health care cost growth by:

  • Determining the state’s total health care expenditures.
  • Identifying cost trends and cost drivers in the health care system.
  • Setting a health care cost growth benchmark for providers and payers.
  • Reporting annually to the Legislature, including providing recommendations for lowering health care costs.
