Universal Health Care Work Group meeting ends early, unexpectedly

On Monday, December 9, the Universal Health Care Work Group held their second meeting. As part of this meeting, work group members broke into small groups to:

  • Gain a shared understanding of the problems with health care in Washington State.
  • Identify the root causes of these problems.
  • Identify the evidence to support the root causes.

Unfortunately, because of a bomb threat, we had to evacuate the building and were unable to finish our meeting. We were not able to complete the report out from break out groups, or have an opportunity for public comment.

Next steps

Because of this disruption, we are providing a special, extended public comment period, which will close on Monday, December 30. Public comments are an integral part of our work, so we encourage people to share their input.

We are also coordinating with work group members to combine the notes from their discussions. After they have an opportunity to review, we will post the report out on the Universal Health Care Work Group page in January.

We apologize for the inconvenience and disruption, and look forward to our next meeting in February.
