Universal Health Care Work Group holds initial meeting

Health Care Authority (HCA) kicked off its Universal Health Care Work Group on September 20, 2019. The work group will provide recommendations to the Legislature on how to create, implement, maintain, and fund a universal health care system.

HCA receives an additional $21.5 million to tackle the opioid epidemic

HCA received an additional $21.5 million to continue combating the opioid crisis. Washington will use the funds to expand the state’s opioid response plan, building upon a $21.5 million grant the state received in 2018.

Pierce County ACH has a new name

Elevate Health

Pierce County Accountable Community of Health has a new name—Elevate Health—and a bright new logo.

The announcement stated the new logo "symbolizes collaboration and upward movement, reflecting how we are always seeking improved health and community vitality."

Hepatitis A outbreak in several Washington counties

The Department of Health announced an outbreak of hepatitis A on July 30, 2019. The outbreak is affecting people who are living homeless or use drugs in King, Pend Oreille, Snohomish and Spokane counties.

Wenatchee Medicaid Transformation forum on Facebook Live

Nearly 40 providers, partners, and stakeholders attended—in person and on Facebook Live—the Medicaid Transformation Public Forum in Wenatchee on September 12. North Central Accountable Community of Health (NCACH) hosted the forum.

Presenters from HCA, the Department of Social and Health Services, and NCACH talked about the progress being made in health care integration, and related topics. After the slide presentation, the audience joined the discussion with questions and comments.
