The University of Washington Medical Center is poised to become a national leader in behavioral health care. In the last legislative session, lawmakers provided funds for construction of an innovative new hospital.
The new facility will provide coordinated care for more people with behavioral health disorders. In addition, it will train more providers in how to integrate their practices, so their patients receive whole person care.

The Health Care Authority (HCA) is seeking provider participation in an annual paying for value survey.
Aug. 30 is the deadline to take the survey.
This annual survey tracks progress toward the statewide goal of paying for value-based care. In a value-based system, payments are based on the health outcomes people experience, rather than paying for each medical transaction.

Better Health Together (BHT) was one of 39 organizations to receive funding from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to provide access to health care for infants, toddlers, and youth.
The Healthy Kids 2019 cooperative agreement outreach and enrollment awards went to organizations in 25 states. The awards support enrollment and retention of eligible children in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
BHT is the Accountable Community of Health for Adams, Ferry, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane, and Stevens counties.
Despite strong evidence that primary care yields better patient and policy outcomes, it has been chronically underfunded in the U.S.
This report shows that in health systems that invest more heavily in primary care, patients have better health outcomes, there is less inequity, and costs are lower.
