Foundational Community Supports newsletter to launch as enrollments rise

Next month, Healthier Washington will launch a newsletter to share updates, data, and information about supportive housing and supported employment.  

Foundational Community Supports is also known as Initiative 3 of Healthier Washington's Medicaid Transformation effort.

There are currently 1,565 enrollees in the two programs, combined, with another 99 people in the pipeline.

September 24 webinar highlights state rural health transformation efforts

Healthier Washington will present a webinar titled "Rural solutions for health care transformation" on September 24 from noon to 1 p.m. 

This presentation will focus on the unique challenges to health care delivery posed by rural and remote conditions, and the opportunities for improvement offered by Washington's health transformation efforts. The goal is to improve the health of rural Washingtonians and preserve their access to care in ways that are sustainable.  

This is the third webinar in the Healthier Washington quarterly webinar series for 2018.

CPAA announces Medicaid Transformation project implementation partners

Cascade Pacific Action Alliance, one of the state's nine Accountable Communities of Health, has selected 44 organizations and seven federally recognized tribes to be part of their network of paid Medicaid Transformation implementation partners.

CPAA selected the partners via an independent assessor. The CPAA region includes Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Thurston, and Wahkiakum counties.

Community health worker training: a personal story

Community health worker Johanna Trader benefited from an intervention program that changed her life.

Last spring, Pierce County Accountable Community of Health (ACH) launched an eight-week training course for community health workers (CHWs), preparing them to participate in the Pathways Community HUB. The CHWs were drawn from a variety of backgrounds. Johanna Trader, a caregiver for the Korean Women's Association, was one of them.
