All nine Accountable Communities of Health (ACHs) have submitted Project Plan portfolios to the state’s independent assessor, marking an important milestone in Washington’s Medicaid Transformation Demonstration. The portfolios identify the projects each ACH will undertake and describe in detail how projects will be implemented.

As part of an ongoing commitment to assisting health care transformation across the state, the Healthier Washington Practice Transformation Resource Portal has rolled out several new features offering collaboration tools for health care providers, staff, and practice coaches. One of the biggest changes is the addition of My Portal, which allows users to create accounts, as well as the ability to save, rate and share resources.

The Health Care Authority announced certification of four patient decision aids (PDAs) for joint replacement surgery. These certified aids will support providers in discussing treatment options with people with hip or knee osteoarthritis who are considering joint replacement surgery.

Several new measures have been proposed for inclusion in the Common Measure Set starting in 2018. The Performance Measures Coordinating Committee will review comments and finalize the set of measures on December 18, 2017.

Registration for workshop now open
A free, one-day training will help nurse care managers in integrated care settings learn key tools, principles, evidence and skills for supporting whole-person care. The workshop, "Integrating Care and the Expanding Role of Nurses" will be held January 9, 2018 in SeaTac.

New video highlights nurses' role in health transformation
Healthier Washington partnered with the Washington Center for Nursing to
produce a video about what all Washington State nurses should know about the social determinants of health
and the Healthier Washington initiative. The video is intended to
inspire nurses to act as a change agent in the state's health care reform.

On October 18-19, the Healthier Washington Purchaser Conference and Symposium brought together hundreds of partners and stakeholders to engage in conversation about how we can collectively commit to value-based purchasing, payment, and care delivery, and understand our roles in moving value-based strategies from concept to practice.
