Medicaid Demonstration rolls out new services for older adults and unpaid caregivers

Starting last week, the state began rolling out two new benefits under the Medicaid Transformation Demonstration. The Medicaid Alternative Care (MAC) and Tailored Supports for Older Adults (TSOA) programs support people age 55 and older, their families, and their unpaid caregivers by:

  • Giving options in how they receive long-term services and supports
  • Supporting the health and well-being of family and other unpaid caregivers
  • Delaying or avoiding the need for more intensive long-term services and supports when possible

MAC and TSOA fall under Initiative 2 of the Demonstration and are led by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.
