Apple Health (Medicaid) Provider Alert

Publically owned and operated ground ambulance providers will soon be eligible for additional payments when transporting Medicaid clients.

These supplemental payments will be available through the Ground Emergency Medical Transportation (GEMT) program, which the Health Care Authority (the agency) is currently developing as directed by House Bill 2007.

The agency anticipates it will take several months to finalize the program and offer the supplemental payments. Until then, providers are encouraged to keep updated on GEMT developments in the following ways:

  • Attend a GEMT Implementation Seminar. Seminar dates, agendas, and registration can be found on the GEMT Implementation Seminar webpage.

  • Participate in rulemaking. Information on GEMT rulemaking can be found on the agency’s Apple Health (Medicaid) Rulemaking webpage. Type 182-546 in the Affected WAC field.  If you are receiving this Provider Alert, you are already signed up to receive updates on ambulance-related rulemaking. If you have colleagues who would like to sign up for rulemaking notices, they can do so on the subscription webpage.

  • Visit the GEMT webpage for regular updates. The webpage is under development and nearing completion. As soon as the webpage is operational, the agency will send a Provider Alert with a link to the webpage.
