New resource will offer behavioral health agencies deep dive on value-based payment

The Healthier Washington Practice Transformation Support Hub is partnering with the Washington Council for Behavioral Health and the National Council for Behavioral Health to offer a Value-Based Payment (VBP) Practice Transformation Academy to licensed community behavioral health agencies currently providing outpatient mental health and/or substance use disorder services.

The Academy is free to the agencies chosen to participate, and Phase I will run from October 2017 to January 2018. Participating agencies will enjoy many benefits including:

  • A supportive learning environment facilitated by National Council expert faculty, as well as evidence-based resource materials and peer learning and coaching from National Council faculty and practice transformation coaches;
  • Achieving a thorough understanding of Washington State’s Value-Based Payment Framework for health care providers;
  • Expert assessment of an agency’s VBP-readiness, including  current agency status and capabilities for operating within categories 2 through 4 of the VBP Framework, as well as identifying needed changes in internal operations;
  • Increased competency in reporting outcomes and expanded ability to articulate value to payers; and
  • Advanced readiness to operate in a value-based payment environment.

Applications are due September 19 and participation in the academy is limited to 20 agencies.
