Two health care
providers commit to new model of value-based payment
Two Washington State health care providers have signed on to
test two demonstrations (one urban and one rural) of a new integrated model of
care through a Healthier Washington payment redesign model.
Northwest Physicians Network and Summit Pacific Medical
Center are contracting with the state Health Care Authority (HCA) to pilot the Greater
Washington Multi-payer model, where providers will coordinate care, share data
across multiple payers and support providers in adopting value-based payment
models.
These health care providers have committed to engaging multiple
payers in this aligned strategy focused on population health management, while
HCA will share attributable claims data from a state employee health plan and
Apple Health (Medicaid), provide technical assistance around care
transformation, and incentivize broader participation in the model test.
Northwest Physicians Network, leading the urban
demonstration, is Washington’s largest multispecialty network, with more than
80 ambulatory surgery centers and diagnostic imaging centers, and contract
partnerships with more than 200 facility and ancillary services. They serve 12
counties: Adams, Benton, Clallam, Grays Harbor, Island, King, Kitsap Kittitas,
Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, and Thurston.
Summit Pacific Medical Center, leading the rural
demonstration, is a critical access hospital in Elma. Summit Pacific also
operates three rural primary care clinics and an urgent care clinic. On January
1, they launched an electronic health record system that allows a patient’s
complete health record to be accessed at all hospital departments and at Summit
Pacific’s primary care clinics.
The Greater Washington Multi-payer payment model helps
increase providers’ access to patient data across multiple payers and
providers, and aligns quality measures used to assess provider performance. This
help providers transition into value-based payment arrangements.
