Alien Medical Program Emergency Assistance –
Clarification of authorization for eligibility and prior authorization for
services.
The agency is aware that the previous Provider Alerts
regarding prior authorization requirements for the Alien Medical Program
Emergency Assistance (also known as the Alien Emergency Medical-AEM) are
confusing for providers.
This notice supersedes
previous Provider Alerts sent October 14, 2015 and February 29, 2016.
The agency published a new provider guide for the Alien
Medical Program Emergency Assistance, dated April 1, 2016. Providers should
refer to the Alien
Medical Program Emergency Assistance Provider Guide for authorization for
eligibility, requesting prior authorization for services, covered services, and
billing.
