HRMS Out-of-state (OOS) Tax Processing
OFM has observed a rise in out-of-state (OOS) tax related support requests during the current year-end processing. HRMS is configured for automated processing of Oregon and Idaho state taxes only.
All other states’ taxes must be collected and reported manually. Agencies should refer to the Out-of-State Tax Processing in HRMS web page for more information, to include:
- Collect state income tax using an OOS wage type in Recurring Payments/Deductions (0014) record.
- [Optional] Collect Other State L&I and/or Other State Unemployment using the OOS wage types in Recurring Payments/Deductions (0014) record.
- Ensure agency EINs are configured in HRMS so that those taxes can be added to the employee’s W-2.
- Create a manual adjustment prior to the annual deadline to report the above collection(s) onto the employee's W-2.
OFM OOS Tax Support Limitations
OFM does not provide tax codes, collection, or any other tax related support for states other than Oregon or Idaho. Processors should work with their agency tax advisors or use the Social Security Administration’s Business Services Online portal to make adjustments or corrections to a W-2 in support of other state taxes.
