Volunteers Needed to Serve on the WAVE Scholarship Review Committee
The Workforce Board seeks volunteers to review scholarship applications for the Washington Award for Vocational Excellence. This scholarship helps Washington’s top career and technical education students pay for up to two years of college tuition.
Small business owners and entrepreneurs are encouraged to volunteer for this rewarding role. This commitment involves about two hours of your time.
Washington continues to face major workforce shortages, and this is your chance to help close that gap. Many top students in advanced manufacturing, agriculture, automotive technology, nursing, cybersecurity and business apply for this award. The WAVE scholarship creates a path to economic self-sufficiency for these students – and helps your industry succeed with a new generation of trained workers.

The Early Return to Work Consultation Team Helps Keep Washington Safe and Working!
The Early Return to Work Consultation team at Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) is made up of highly skilled vocational services specialists who are ready to support employers in Washington State. They provide education and consulting services to employers interested in setting up return-to-work programs for their business. The long-term goal is for employers to have a plan in place should a worker get injured at work.
Team members educate employers about L&I’s financial incentives programs, creating “light duty” opportunities, conducting ergonomic evaluations, and completing job analyses and job descriptions.
