During the HRMS build in 2004-2005, ACH processing was configured to create a 7-character set when processing direct deposits (ACH). Specifically, HRMS would produce and work through a single alpha letter followed by 6 digits in order (example: A000000-A999999, B000000-B999999, etc). This 7-character series is then used within numerous reports and interfaces.
As a result of limiting the configuration to 1 alpha letter and 6-digits, HRMS ACH processing is running out of allowable character sets. HRMS has arrived at processing the letter "Z" (Z000000-Z999999), and this leaves less than 5 months before it will reach the maximum character series with the current configuration.
OFM is implementing a solution within HRMS so that the 7-character set will allow for a double alpha letter followed by 5 digits (example: AA00000, AB00000, etc). This enhancement will move into HRMS after payroll period 10/2023 (May 1-15) has completed processing.
