October 2023
October is National LGBTQ+ History Month, inviting us to learn more and celebrate the achievements of trailblazing members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender nonconforming, and queer communities. In 1994, Rodney Wilson - a Missouri high school teacher - proposed the idea that a month be dedicated to celebrating and educating others about LGBTQ+ history; October was selected because several important dates fall within the month, including National Coming Out Day (October 11). We invite you to take time to learn about LGBTQ+ icons like Martha P. Johnson, Christine Jorgensen, Harvey Milk and Bayard Rustin, among many others. You can also listen to a podcast or read a book about LGBTQ+ history. More information can be found at lgbthistorymonth.com, pflag.org, and lgbtq.wa.gov.
Important Reminders for Site Staff
|
|
Site staff, when you and your new member receive the “Welcome to WA Service Corps” email, please follow up with your member to read the info in the letter thoroughly, as it includes very important info, including TimeTracker (timesheet) setup and training updates.
Also, when there is a change in your member's primary or secondary site staff, please notify your WSC Coordinator before the change takes place. It is critical that we have the most current information on file.
