March 2022

Requesting applications

Do you know a CBO or local school that could use AmeriCorps "people power"?

Please spread the word - we're now accepting applications for 2022-23 host sites! Full details are posted on our website, and questions can be sent to us at wscmail@esd.wa.gov.

Training opps

Members, if you need to make up hours due to unexpected absences or site closures:

With a library card, you can use LinkedIn Learning for free. Courses cover a wide range of professional topics.

WorkSource offices also have virtual and in-person workshops available.

We also encourage you to speak with your site staff about trainings they may have access to – make sure to speak with them prior to attending so they know what to expect on your timesheet. Training should not exceed 20% of your total hours for the service term!

Contact Bryce Bateman with any training related questions.

Together, we are AmeriCorps

As we look forward to AmeriCorps Week (March 13-19), we're sharing a great story from WSC member, Kellee B. (thank you, Kellee!). Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for more share-outs from fellow members during Ameri-Week!

"My name is Kellee, and I am an AmeriCorps member serving at the Seattle office of the National Wildlife Federation. My role as the Habitat Stewards Program Coordinator is to educate and empower community members by supporting our education programs like Garden for Wildlife and Eco-Schools..In addition, I assist schools and their students with growing Schoolyard Habitats right on their campuses.
Over the past few months, I have had the privilege to work with the Environmental Club at Bethel High School in creating a Schoolyard Habitat..."

Cesar Chavez Day of Service

WSC will honor César Chávez’s life and legacy with a Day of Service on March 31. Activities for this day often span into April. Please consider hosting an event for your site, or connecting to another local event.

We will have service projects posted on our website that you can participate in with fellow members if you don't have one already. To share your project, contact Ariel Kay.

We'd love to see photos of your service day! Please email your WSC Coordinator or tag us on Facebook or Instagram.
