Each year during AmeriCorps Week, the selfless commitment of AmeriCorps members and alums is publicly recognized nationwide, highlighting the extraordinary impact they have in service - an opportunity to salute them for their service, thank AmeriCorps community partners and bring awareness to the public and local legislators.
Site staff and members, please join us on the "Day of the A" -March 17- in telling the story of your service on social media!
Check out AmeriCorps' tookit for AmeriCorps Week graphics, social media templates & different ways to share and celebrate.
Plus, Serve Washington is inviting members from all programs across the state to an informal networking session via Zoom on March 15 from noon-1pm. If you'd like to hop on and connect with others currently serving, register here.
César Chávez gave our nation and each of us a unique example to live our lives by. His selfless dedication for farm worker and worker rights, economic justice, civil rights, environmental justice, peace, nonviolence, empowerment of the poor and disenfranchised, is a monumental legacy that will inspire all and the generations to come.
WSC will honor his life and legacy as a civil rights leader with a Day of Service on March 31. Activities for this day often span into April as well. Please consider hosting an event for your site, or connecting to another local event.
We will have service projects posted on our website that you can participate in with fellow members if you don't have one already. To share your project on the site, contact Ariel Kay.
If you'd rather serve virtually but need ideas, check these out from AmeriCorps, Teach For America, and Michigan State University.
We'd love to see photos of your service day! Please email your WSC Coordinator or tag us on Facebook or Instagram.
