December 2021

Winter hours & LMS trainings

The holidays are upon us, and we want to remind all members to stay proactive on keeping up with your service hours during any site closures. Aside from MLK Day, you're not expected to serve on federal holidays (e.g  Christmas, New Year’s), but any other days your site will be closed should be days you’re either serving at an alternate location or making up hours if you will be absent.

Please set aside some time to develop a plan with your site staff. If you need support, please reach out to your WSC Coordinator.

And, if you have LMS trainings not done yet, you can claim hours for time spent on those courses; coordinate with your site staff ahead of time, and mark as "Training" on your timesheet.

Contact our Training Specialist, Bryce Bateman, with any questions.

Every year, National Service programs including AmeriCorps get together to volunteer and give back to their communities to celebrate and honor the work, life, and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service – “a day on, not a day off.”

This is an opportunity for members and sites to create a service project for the local community to volunteer at (like a beach cleanup or tree planting), or for members to find an existing project to serve at for the day.

If you'll have a volunteer event you'd like our help in sharing out, please let us know.

Happy holidays!

We wish all of our members and site partners a very happy holiday season!

Members, just a reminder that there are benefits available to you during your term. Please check out our resource kit and Member Assistance Program.

Due Dec 15

REMINDER:  First quarter reporting and stories of service are due by December 15!

Due Jan 31

Site staff, it's time to start planning for your member's first performance evaluation, due by January 31.

Your member's first evaluation is also the perfect time to collaborate with them on their professional development goals for the remainder of their service term.

Your WSC Coordinator is here to help if you have any questions about the eval form or development plan.

Looking ahead: 2022-23

Site staff, now is the time to start looking at budgets and project needs for hosting a member again next year.

Our 2022-23 application will be posted in February, and details will be shared in the coming months to help you make plans.
