Paid Leave: Get ready for quarterly reporting
Quarter 2 reports are due by July 31. Before you submit this report, log-in to your Paid Leave account and:
-
Make sure your contact info is accurate.
- Review the status of your previously filed reports.
Finish or correct any reports for previous quarters before you submit a report for Quarter 2.
Check your status:
-
Pending — You started manually submitting wages, but you haven’t submitted it yet.
-
Submitted — You’ve uploaded your report, but the system hasn’t processed it yet.
-
Rejected— You need to correct errors and submit a new report for the quarter.
-
Processed — You successfully filed your quarterly report! Check the payments tab to see if you have a balance due or credits on your account before submitting more payments.
Depending on your payment method, it can take several days for payments to post to your account. Make sure you’ve reported for all quarters you had payroll. Remember: You do not have to file a report for any quarter you did not have payroll.
New to reporting? Use the premium calculator and test your files to get ready. You can also learn how to set up an employer agent to manage your reports. More resources are available in the Help Center and on Paid Leave's website.
WA Cares Fund: Why it matters
Seven in ten Washingtonians over the age of 65 will need long-term services and supports within their lifetimes. To pay for long-term care, many people must spend down their savings to qualify for financial support. By contributing a small amount from each paycheck while we’re working, we can all pay for long-term care when we need it. With WA Cares, people will have access to a lifetime benefit amount that, should they need it, they can use on a wide range of long-term services and supports.
Contributions
- Beginning January 2022, Washington workers will pay up to $0.58 per $100 of earnings.
- WA Cares benefits are entirely funded by worker premiums.
- Every employee contributes – employers do not.
- If you are self-employed, you can opt-in to the Trust.

Unemployment Insurance - Employer tax relief
With a goal of supporting businesses, the state Legislature is preventing more than $900 million in employment taxes from being charged in 2021 and another $1.8 billion in the future. Learn more on our employer news and updates page on esd.wa.gov.
Also new this year, legislators set aside $500 million in a UI relief account, directing relief to many of the hardest-hit industries. ESD is using this account to forgive or reimburse instead of charging taxable employers. Employers will see these adjustments on their December tax rate notice.
