Schools of National Service

Members, if you're thinking about pursuing a college degree after your service term, you'll want to check out a new initiative just announced by AmeriCorps called Schools of National Service, created to help make higher education more affordable and attainable for AmeriCorps alums.

Through this project, more than 200 participating schools - including community colleges, technical schools and 4-year institutions - provide incentives and benefits to AmeriCorps alums, like matching the Segal education award, providing tuition discounts, academic credit for AmeriCorps service, and one-year enrollment deferrals.

"My second service term has been full of changes and adjustments, yet it hasn’t changed my drive to continue pursuing this work. If anything, this year has only spurred my motivation to keep working towards expanding food security efforts in our service area by learning more about the food system in the city. I look forward to the opportunities that will continue to surface as my service term progresses." - April L., Gonzaga U.

MLK Day 2021

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is on January 18! Start planning your community service project now to celebrate the life and legacy of the Civil Rights leader.

We're encouraging members who are comfortable providing in-person service to volunteer with their local food bank, if it’s safe to do so. Alternatively, has ideas and resources for in-person and virtual service projects.

Please communicate your plan and service hours with your site staff for accurate timesheet approval.

Recordings for all the WSC Fall Training Event sessions have now been added to TalentLMS and are available for viewing! Required trainings are being assigned to members who were partially absent during the live event or who started service after October, but if you want to review all available sessions you can find them in the “Course Catalog” when you sign into your TalentLMS account.
