Apply Now for a Free Summer Program for Neurodiverse Learners in High School!

 

  How can a "neurodiverse" student utilize their unique strengths?     How can a student pursue neuroscience and related STEM fields in college?   How does the brain work and why are we all different?   What is the current state of brain implants to enhance the human experience?   What ethical issues are important to consider when new technology is being created?

 

The UW DO-IT Center and Center for Neurotechnology (CNT) at the University of Washington sponsor a five-day online program for neurodiverse students during the summer. Students receive an introduction to neuroscience, neuroethics, and scientific communication. Students will also learn about self-advocacy and college preparation. This 2020 online summer program, Neuroscience for Neurodiverse Learners, is for high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors in Washington State who identify as neurodiverse learners (those with academic challenges related to dyspraxia, dyslexia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyscalculia, autism spectrum disorder, Tourette syndrome, and similar). Applications for the 2020 summer program are now available. The summer program will run online from August 10 – 14 (10am – 1:30pm), with continued activities throughout the school year for those who complete camp activities. There is no cost to students accepted into this program. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as a neurodiverse learner.
  • Have aptitude and interest in attending college.
  • Heading into their high school sophomore, junior, or senior year in Washington State.
  • Students must attend online activities August 10 – 14 (10am – 1:30pm).
