December 2019

Pop quiz! What are due Dec 16?

Answer: First quarter stories of service (members) and project performance data reports (site staff)!

If you just came on board, check out the links above for information you need to know.

Please reach out to your WSC Coordinator if you have any questions.

Swearing-in ceremony

Did you attend Serve Washington's swearing-in event in October? If so, they'd like your input on what you liked, or what could be improved. You can take their brief survey here.

Performance evaluations due soon

Site staff, please mark your calendar: the first of two performance evaluations for your member(s) is due in to our office by January 31. Access the form here, and watch your inbox for an upcoming Training Tuesday about how to complete them.

Your input matters to us

Providing timely, top-knotch support to you is our main priority! As the first quarter of the program year winds down, we'd like to know how your experience as a WSC site staff or member has been so far, in terms of the level of service we've provided.

What have we done well? Where can we improve? Please let us know by taking a moment to fill out our brief survey (closes December 16).

Your feedback on how we're doing is very valuable to us, and informs the direction we move forward in.

Happy holidays!

Holiday self-care

Ensuring the health and safety of our members during their term of service is very important to us. The holidays and winter months can be a stressful time for many, so please make sure you are practicing good self-care habits; exercising, eating well, and taking time to recharge are great starting points! Plus, the Member Assistance Program is FREE for members, available 24/7 by phone and NEW mobile app. MAP provides service/life balance resources, online webinars, and confidential support from certified counselors. Click here to learn more.

Planning for the holidays

Members, are you thinking of taking time off during the holidays? If you're on track to achieve your minimum total hours for your term, you may be granted a few days off. However, if you plan to take more than 4 or 5 business days, please contact your WSC Program Coordinator to discuss available options.

If you want to serve during winter break but your site will be closed, you have the following options:

- alternative service

- a service project (Can be outside of your focus area. Service projects can only be 5% of your total term hours, and are recorded the same as alt. service hours.)

- teleservice

Serving on MLK Day

Need ideas on what you can do on MLK Day? We have lots of them! Look for an email from your WSC Coordinator with tips, and how you can amplify your service project through WSC.
