Dear DDA Interested Parties:
The Department of Social and Health Services Developmental Disabilities Administration is in the process of preparing amendments for waivers funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Affected waivers include:
- Individual and Family Services
- Basic Plus
- Core
- Community Protection
- Children’s Intensive In-Home Behavioral Support (CIIBS)
Interested parties have an opportunity to review and comment on draft waiver amendments before the amendments are sent to CMS. While the 5 DDA waiver amendments were posted online and notice of amendments were posted in all DDA offices, we received feedback that some individuals were not aware of the public comment period, so DDA is extending the public comment period to September 27, 2024 to ensure everyone has an opportunity to comment.
The amendments (373-601 pages) were available August 7, 2024. A summary follows:
DSHS and Health Care Authority intend to amend the Individual and Family Services, Basic Plus, Core, Community Protection, and Children’s Intensive In-Home Behavioral Support waivers with an effective date of January 1, 2025. These amendments propose to:
- Add Foster Care group to waiver eligibility.
- Update the assessment tool Supports Intensity Scale – Adult (SIS-A) to Supports Intensity Scale – Adult 2nd
- Add Sexual Health Therapy as a new waiver service.
- Add point-in-time capacity to the Basic Plus waiver from 13,000 to 13,400 individuals for Waiver Years 3-5.
We believe these proposed changes will have no negative impact on current or future DDA waiver participants.
The amendments can be read in their entirety on our website. Official notices are also located in the Washington State Register.
Send your comments to DDAWaiverAmendments@dshs.wa.gov during the comment period.
We will use this communication system and the Washington Register for all future announcements regarding waiver amendments, waiver renewals, and new waivers.
