April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
The theme of this year's Sexual Assault Awareness month is Building Connected Communities. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center Building Connected Communities helps us reduce the likelihood of sexual abuse, assault and harassment in our communities.
People with disabilities, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, experience sexual assault at much higher rates than people without disabilities. It is essential that we help connect the individual's we support to their communities and help prevent sexual assault.
