Companion Home Room and Board Agreement
Dear Companion Home providers,
Companion home WAC 388-829C-310 requires providers with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services’ Developmental Disabilities Administration to have a signed room and board agreement.
In addition, federal settings rules found in 42 CFR Section 441.301 (c) (4) require the provider to make sure a client has the same protection under landlord/tenant law as the general public.
The provider must have language in their room and board agreement that:
a. Provides adequate notice prior to eviction or termination of tenancy.
b. Includes a process for the client to have opportunities to make positive changes before eviction.
c. Provides information on how a client can appeal their eviction.
Action:
- Please review your current room and board agreement to ensure that it contains language that aligns with WA landlord/ tenant laws.
- An updated room and board agreement must be signed by the client, or the client’s legal representative if they have one.
- Send a copy of the updated room and board agreement to the client’s RM and CRM.
For questions, please contact your Resource Manager.
