Update on Quality in Residential Settings Project
Community Residential Providers we want your input!
We are working on project called Quality in Residential Settings from Senate Bill 5268 (pg. 5) from the 2021-22 Legislative Session. The focus of this project is to create uniform quality assurance metrics across the following settings: Alternative Living, Supported Living, Companion Homes, Group Homes, Group Training Homes, Intermediate Care Facilities and State Operated Nursing Facilities.
We want your feedback on the following draft metrics/objectives that we are developing:
- Achievement of Goals:
- Individual plans support a person towards achievement of their goals (i.e. Individual Instruction and Support Plans, Individual Habilitation Plans etc).
- Transitions:
- Individuals moving out of Residential Habilitation Centers are supported to remain in their service setting of choice for a year.
- Health and Safety:
- Mortality trends are analyzed and systemic interventions are implemented to reduce preventable deaths.
- Incident Report trends are reviewed to identify risk factors and determine and implement systemic interventions to reduce negative outcomes.
- Client Rights:
- Supports are provided to the client in the least restrictive setting and in the least intrusive manner. This will include a review of Positive Behavior Support Plans and Functional Assessments.
- Satisfaction:
- Satisfaction Surveys are conducted to review quality of services across settings.
The data will be collected by DSHS Developmental Disabilities Administration’s Quality Assurance Staff using PBSPs, IISPs, IHPs and other existing efforts.
Please email all feedback by Jan. 27, 2023 to DDAResidentialQAUnit@dshs.wa.gov. If you would like to be a part of this project focus group, let us know!
